Information Entered Into Searches
Name, phone, and address entries submitted through the search forms are sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Redding Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those searches on its own servers. Messages sent through the contact route contain whatever the sender chooses to include and are used to respond.
Routine Technical Logs
Hosting systems may record an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps. Those ordinary logs are reviewed in aggregate for site health and traffic patterns. Basic cookies or similar tools may support analytics or advertising measurement when enabled.
How the Information Is Used
Collected data is used to operate the reference, fix faults, measure visits, and improve the pages. Redding Residents Directory does not sell a visitor list or build an individual profile from the site's own data.
Links Under Other Policies
County and state portals, library collections, archives, and sponsored search tools set their own privacy terms. Their policies control what is submitted on those services, not this policy. Review the custodian or provider notice before entering sensitive information.
Who Processes Technical Data
Hosting and support providers may process server logs. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. Disclosure can also occur when valid legal process requires it, and not merely because a public record is mentioned on a page.
Security and Retention
The site uses an encrypted connection. Logs are kept only for the operational purposes described here. There are no accounts, passwords, or user profiles on Redding Residents Directory for an attacker to access.
Visitors Under 18
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Contact us if a minor appears to have sent personal information so the available copy can be removed.
California Privacy Choices
California's Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, is codified at Civil Code section 1798.100 and following. Depending on the business and data involved, covered consumers may have rights to know, access, delete, correct, limit certain sensitive-data uses, and opt out of sale or sharing. The Delete Act also creates a state deletion mechanism for registered data brokers through the California Privacy Protection Agency.
Because this reference keeps little direct visitor data, a request usually means checking the contact mailbox and relevant server logs. Use the Contact page to ask. Public records held by California, Shasta County, or the City of Redding are outside our control; removal or correction requests for those belong with the custodian. Privacy rights do not rewrite public-record access rules.
Changes to This Policy
When the privacy practice changes, a revised policy will be posted here. Continued use after the revision indicates acceptance of the updated language.
